The Power of Obedience in God’s Calling

The Power of Obedience in God’s Calling

A reflection on the journey of Prophetess Oluwanike Jethro and how obedience birthed a global ministry.

Obedience is not just a virtue in the Christian walk; it is a doorway to destiny. Every great move of God in Scripture began with a vessel who was willing to say “Yes, Lord”—even when the path ahead was unclear. The story of Prophetess Oluwanike Jethro, founder of Rock of Christ Church International, is a living testimony of how obedience can transform an ordinary life into an instrument of extraordinary impact.

The calling of Prophetess Oluwanike began in 1996 during her time at C & S Church, Source of Joy, Ibadan. Like many who encountered divine assignment at a young age, she initially hesitated. The demands of the calling seemed overwhelming, and the direction of God appeared to interrupt her plans. But God, who sees the end from the beginning, kept pursuing her heart.

Even when she relocated to Abuja in search of greener pastures, God continued shaping and preparing her. In Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM), under Pastor Sehinde Lawrence, she served faithfully for eight years. Unknown to her, every prayer meeting, every prophetic assignment, every service commitment was part of God’s training ground. It was obedience in small things that prepared her for greater things.

When God spoke again in 2005, she returned to Ibadan and served two more years at her former church. That season of submission became the bridge to her divine mandate. Finally, in 2007, she took a bold step—leaving her comfort zone to establish Rock of Christ Church International with her husband, Pastor Oluwafemi Olubusola Jethro.

The beginning was modest: fewer than ten worshippers in a small apartment. But destiny does not need a crowd to start—it needs obedience. What started in one room now touches thousands through worship services, outreaches, deliverance programs, radio broadcasts, and global online ministry.

The Bible says in Isaiah 1:19, “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” Prophetess Oluwanike’s journey proves this truth. Her willingness opened doors, and her obedience sustained the ministry’s growth.

Today, Rock of Christ Church International stands as a beacon of hope—because one woman dared to obey God’s calling. Her story reminds every believer that obedience is not just about hearing God; it is about trusting Him enough to follow, even when the road is unfamiliar.

When God calls, He also equips. When He instructs, He also empowers. And when His servants obey, He establishes a legacy that outlives them.
